A scratch in a frame and a distorted load-bearing rail are not the same problem. Frame assessment looks at whether the opening remains square, whether corners and fasteners are stable, whether panels stay captured, and whether tracks, locks, glass, and seals can function as designed.
Dents can restrict roller travel. A twisted jamb can keep the lock from meeting its keeper. Loose corners may allow movement each time the door closes. Corrosion or damaged material near glass retention requires careful evaluation rather than cosmetic covering.
Repair may be appropriate when damage is localized and the remaining structure is sound. Replacement becomes more reasonable when distortion is extensive, attachment is compromised, multiple components cannot be aligned, or safe glazing retention cannot be assured. We also distinguish door-frame conditions from movement in surrounding construction; the right trade may need to be involved if the opening itself is changing.
Can caulk repair a bent frame?
No. Sealant can close suitable joints, but it does not restore structural geometry or roller alignment.
