Sliding Door Alignment & Adjustment in Atlanta

When a door drags at one corner, misses its lock, or feels harder at one point in its travel, it has usually settled out of square. Adjusting the rollers to level and square the panel often restores smooth, secure operation.

The problem

What we see and how we fix it

Adjustment only works when the rollers are still structurally sound. Turning screws to mask a failed roller raises the panel too far and reduces lock engagement at the top.

Signs you need this

When to call us

  • The door drags on one side but not the other
  • The lock or keeper no longer lines up
  • A gap that's wider at the top or bottom
  • The panel feels fine in one spot and tight in another

Our process

How the visit goes

Check panel height, square, and roller condition

Confirm the rollers are sound enough to hold an adjustment

Level and square the panel to the frame

Set correct engagement at the lock and keeper

Test the full travel and the latch together

Repair or replace? Adjustment is the low-cost fix when rollers are healthy. If a roller has failed, we replace it rather than chase the alignment repeatedly.

Questions

Sliding Door Alignment & Adjustment FAQs

Why does my door lock only when I lift it?

The panel has dropped out of square, so the lock and keeper don't meet unless you lift it. Leveling the panel corrects the engagement.

Can I adjust the door myself?

You can, but over-adjusting hides a failing roller and reduces lock engagement. If it won't hold, the rollers likely need attention.

Why does the door go out of alignment again?

A repeated drift usually means a roller is worn, not that the adjustment was wrong.
