Discontinued Sliding Door Parts: What Can Be Done?

By Dave Silver

Measuring a discontinued sliding door part for a custom solution.

Older Atlanta homes and commercial properties often contain door systems whose labels are missing and whose manufacturers have changed or stopped supporting the product. An online search by color or general shape rarely gives enough information.

We identify a component by function and dimensions: mounting pattern, profile, operating direction, wheel diameter, axle position, clearances, load, and interaction with the surrounding frame. Sometimes a direct replacement exists under a different number. Sometimes a modern assembly can be adapted. In selected cases, a bracket, guide, spacer, retainer, adapter, or track component can be fabricated or modified.

Custom does not mean improvised. A part must use suitable material, maintain alignment, carry the intended load, and avoid interfering with drainage, glass, locks, or safety features. Certain proprietary or safety-critical assemblies should not be recreated without an appropriate compliant solution.

The practical question is whether the existing door provides a sound platform. If it does, careful parts work may extend its life and avoid major disruption. If it does not, we explain the limitation rather than hiding it behind a temporary patch.

Can every discontinued part be fabricated?
No. Feasibility depends on the component, material, loads, measurements, and safety requirements.

Send clear photos and request an inspection through the form below. Final identification still requires on-site measurements.
