Fabrication begins with the door, not the workbench. We document how the original component is mounted, what it supports, how it moves, where clearance is needed, and what caused it to fail. Copying a broken piece without understanding its role can reproduce the same weakness.
Measurements may include overall length and width, material thickness, hole centers, bends, offsets, wheel position, contact surfaces, and tolerances within the frame. We consider corrosion exposure, friction, load, and compatibility with adjacent materials before selecting an approach.
The first fit is checked without forcing surrounding parts. The panel is then aligned and operated through its full travel. Locks, guides, stops, drainage, and clearances are verified. A custom component is successful only when the entire system behaves correctly.
This capability is especially valuable for unusual Atlanta door systems and older assemblies where an off-the-shelf part is unavailable. It remains a selective repair method, not a promise that every product can or should be recreated.
Can you fabricate from a photograph?
A photograph helps identify the problem, but safe fabrication normally requires physical dimensions and inspection of the surrounding system.
